Executive Director Announcement
The Board of Directors of The Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay is elated to announce the appointment of Ms. Carmela Hardy as the new Executive Director effective April 25, 2022.
Ms. Hardy is a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay that has dedicated her life to bettering the outcomes for children, youth, families, and our community. Her career has spanned more than 22 years working in mental health, addictions, and child welfare. Ms. Hardy brings an innovative wealth of knowledge and experience in the sector. Of notable success, has been the transformation to a preventative-based model, which compliments the unique needs of children and families in Northwestern Ontario. In addition, Ms. Hardy was a key leader in creating services that contributed to a reduction of children and youth in care.
Ms. Hardy exudes confidence, competence, enthusiasm and compassion in her work and her personal life. She looks forward to the opportunity to conclude the CAS Strategic Plan and build the next plan with the Board of Directors, staff and community.
As an organization, we are thrilled to welcome someone with such extensive and deep roots within the child welfare sector and our community.
Ms. Hardy echoes our excitement and is looking forward to working alongside staff, the Board of Directors and community partners in serving our children, youth, and their families.
